Malaysian Prime Minister Must Pressure Sudan to End Human Rights Abuses
Recent decades in Darfur have seen one of the worst humanity crisis and human rights abuse. The conflict in Darfur began in 2003, when the government of Sudan created a proxy militia, now known as the Janjaweed, as it had done previously in the armed conflict in South Sudan. The situation on the ground continues to deteriorate and grave human rights violations are committed against children, women and men.
The international community has a responsibility to protect the people of Darfur. But after four years the destruction and loss of life in Darfur continues without end. Already 200,000 people have died needlessly, possibly many hundreds of thousands more. Over 2 million will spend another night sleeping in makeshift camps where disease, rape and death are all too common.
Four million need humanitarian assistance, and nearly a quarter of them cannot be reached by aid. Attacks on the humanitarian operation are unprecedented.
This cannot continue.

Perdana Menteri Malaysia

Dear Prime Minister,
Pressure Sudan to end human rights abuses
The grim four-year anniversary of the conflict in Darfur will pass on 29 April, marked by Day for Darfur protests around the world but after four years the destruction and loss of life in Darfur continues without end.
More than 200,000 people have died in the last four years since the Darfur conflict began, and more than 2.5 million have been displaced from their homes. Since the beginning of the year, the situation has deteriorated even further, and the conflict has spread beyond Sudan’s borders to eastern Chad.
We call on you to demand the government of Sudan to pressure all sides to stop the violence, respect the ceasefire and end opposition to the hybrid force of the United Nations-African Union peacekeeping force that must be deployed urgently to Darfur.
We believe that as the Prime Minister of Malaysia, who is the Chair of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) and member of UN Human Rights Council you have a vital leadership role to play. Your continuing silence over the situation in Darfur cannot be afforded.
It can no longer be tolerated that the Government of Sudan – responsible for so much of the violence – can still insist that the international community has no right to offer Darfuri people the immediate protection they need.
As the Chair of The OIC you have the power and the responsibility to make Sudan and other parties to the conflict adhere to the agreements they have already signed which they have now chosen to ignore.
We are just a few voices from the tens of thousands from around the world who are taking part in the Globe for Darfur Campaign. Our message is clear. No more excuses and no more silence. The Time is Up – Protect Darfur!

Urban Graffiti + Degradation. Surreal Evolution
Blu started out his artistic career following his passion for drawing, public art, particularly unauthorized, illegal art. Coming from the graffiti culture he started developing his art based on a very personal figurative style. His work lives in two stages and two different spaces.
It originates from sketches jotted down in sketchbook, which represent a diary as well as an image database to be used in the second stage: the mural. The actual project starts in front of the building, with size and load bearing elements of the wall, in effort to identify an impossible combination between painting and surrounding architecture. He avail himself of the most traditional and essential painting tools : brushes, paint roller, one colour and black; he often use techniques drawn from scenography as well as long sticks, which act as supports when working on large surfaces.
The language adopted is strictly based on drawings: it originated from comics and cartoons, although it is best and provisionally epitomized by urban graffiti. The work remains on paper once the mural has disappeared or faded, when it has been taken down, covered or destroyed together with its supporting frame. Inspiration stems from a need of creating that is otherwise stifled by domestic walls, from the sheer pleasure of transforming ordinary and decaying places, showing how creativity may redevelop from urban degradation.
